On November 21, 2023, There was structural damage to the Noah “Bud” Ogle Cabin in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.   The area had experienced extremely strong winds right before Thanksgiving.  Some were upwards towards hurricane gusts.  The ara was also under a Red Flag alert and a burn ban was placed on many of the surrounding areas.   Most of the National Park was closed and campgrounds were evacuated due to this severe weather event.

Noah “Bud” Ogles Cabin experienced structural damage due to strong winds before Thanksgiving.   It’s currently closed to visitors.  You can still walk around the cabin, but you are not allowed to go inside, or on the porch.  At the time of writing this post, I haven’t found any other information about this damage on the National Park Website.  Although it looks as if repairs have begun.

The wall that is covered with the blue tarp, was actually separated from the main structure and laying on the ground.  Unfortunately, I did not get pictures of it when it was seperated.

You can visit the Noah “Bud” Ogle Cabin by taking Cherokee Orchard Drive in Gatlinburg, TN.  Start by heading towards the Roaring Forks Motor Nature Trail.  The cabin is located about a mile before the trailhead to Rainbow Falls.  If you do visit this historic cabin, please be careful of the damage.  Do not attempt to go inside.
